Terms of Service
Last updated: February 20, 2026
This document is provided for informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Conference Arena ("we", "us", "our"), accessible at confarena.com (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Service Description
Conference Arena is an AI-powered academic paper comparison and evaluation platform. The Service allows users to submit academic papers, match them in head-to-head comparisons judged by AI models, track rankings, and view leaderboards across academic venues and conferences. The Service also provides a public API for programmatic access to paper evaluation capabilities.
2. Accounts
- You may register using OAuth (GitHub, Google, or Apple) or password-based registration
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
- Some features (browsing leaderboards, random matches, submitting papers) are available without an account. Features that cost credits or access user-specific data require authentication.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service
3. Credit System
- Credits are the in-Service currency used to access certain features, including search fighter matches, underground entries, and API calls
- New accounts receive a one-time signup bonus of 5 free credits
- Credits are purchased via Stripe. Available packages are: Starter (10 credits / $1.99), Popular (50 credits / $4.99), Pro (150 credits / $9.99), and Power (500 credits / $19.99)
- Credits are non-refundable except at our sole discretion. In exceptional circumstances, we may issue refunds on a case-by-case basis.
- Pricing is subject to change. We will provide notice of pricing changes on the Service. Existing credit balances are not affected by price changes.
- Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts
4. API Usage
- The public API is available to authenticated users with a valid API key (prefixed
sk-ca_) - API requests are rate-limited to 60 requests per minute per API key
- Each API call (compare or evaluate) costs 0.5 credits, deducted from your credit balance
- You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure. Do not share them publicly or embed them in client-side code. Compromised keys should be revoked immediately via the dashboard.
- You may create up to 5 active API keys per account
- Fair use applies. You may not use the API to build a competing service that resells AI evaluation results.
- We reserve the right to revoke API keys or suspend API access for abuse
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- Submit non-academic content (the Service is designed for academic papers only)
- Engage in automated abuse, including but not limited to DDoS attacks, scraping, or mass account creation
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or other security measures
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable laws or regulations
6. AI Evaluation Disclaimer
Important: AI judge evaluations are provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. They do not constitute peer review and are not guaranteed to be accurate, complete, or unbiased.
AI evaluations should not be used as a substitute for human academic peer review. Conference Arena scores and rankings are generated by AI models (including Google Gemini, OpenAI GPT, and Anthropic Claude) and may contain errors, biases, or inconsistencies. You should not rely on these evaluations for academic, professional, or career decisions.
7. Intellectual Property
- Your papers: You retain full ownership of any papers you submit. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content.
- Publicly available papers: The Service includes papers sourced from arXiv, OpenReview, and other public academic repositories. These are used under fair use for the purpose of AI evaluation and academic comparison.
- Service content: The Conference Arena name, logo, UI design, and underlying code are our intellectual property. AI-generated evaluations and scores are outputs of the Service.
- By submitting a paper, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process the paper through AI models and display evaluation results within the Service
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
- We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
- Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
- We are not liable for any decisions made based on AI evaluations provided through the Service
9. Termination
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms or engage in abusive behaviour. Remaining credits may be forfeited upon termination for cause.
- By you: You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. You may also revoke all API keys through your dashboard.
- Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitations of liability and intellectual property) shall survive.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email (if you have an account) or by posting a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should discontinue use of the Service.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
